SunCar project - 1st semester
We decided to make a prototype on a smaller scale of an automobile utilizing solar energy for its operation, will be as follows: the car will have a photovoltaic plate attached to the ceiling, and the energy generated by the plate will allow the car to run and also charge your battery. When you can not use the card for energy, this battery will be used for the vehicle to work.
- Reasons for the development of the project:
Spending that people have with alcohol / gasoline will decrease a lot, even more today that the prices are too high, because the car uses solar power for its operation, and the cost of fuel will be zero.
Gasoline is made from oil, which is a finite resource in nature. It is obvious that the oil reserves has the potential to last long, but using a car that has as an energy source as solar, the human being is no longer dependent on a finite resource in this area.
- Main challenges:
Cause the car make the most of solar power generated, so it has a good performance.
- Starting Materials:
• rechargeable batteries type
• photovoltaic board
• Copper wire (to interconnect circuits)
• Tin (welding)
• LED (to indicate when the card is receiving solar energy)
• Charging batteries of pain (to adapt on our board)
SunCar project - 2nd semester
For the 2nd half will perfect the prototype built in the first half. We will work with infrared transmitters and receivers in order to create an intelligent system for driving the car.
When the sensors detect that is very close to another vehicle or an obstacle, it will reduce (or stop it if necessary) and prevent the occurrence of the collision. For example, when trying to slam the prototype into a wall, it will stop you when you are near and prevent keep going forward and could only turn back.
Our idea is to work with a small electronic board adapted the prototype with these components, trying to keep it light and also make sure that the battery will power all components. For the battery, we will seek to improve its efficiency with a photovoltaic plate, so that the energy to be stored faster and can feed all components satisfactorily.
- · Reasons for development of intelligent driving:

Number of deaths worldwide traffic
Due to the large number of vehicles on the streets every day, accidents occur very often, and are responsible for many deaths each year. We believe that this intelligent driving system using accessible components is a major step that can reduce the occurrence of accidents drastically. Below is some information on the number of traffic accidents in recent years.
